Before you start your bathroom remodel project, you have to ask yourself what type of bathroom do you want to create. What type of materials and layout be available? Selecting your style will help you identify more than just the look, it will also help with your decision making.Once you choose your style you eliminate many of your choices available. This doesn't mean once you pick your style that you are forced to go with that design.
Contemporary:
A contemporary bathroom incorporates strong lines and simple contours to provide a clean and functional room.A contemporary design can embrace fine wood materials such as oak, ash, teak and birch.Chrome or stainless steel faucets and hardware are the most popular. The colors are usually neutral or bold and bright.
Electric:
An electric bathroom incorporates a French country, American rustic and a little English manor look. When you want your design to include multiple styles, electric would be a good choice.
French Country:
This style usually incorporates a feminine look with curved lines. The feeling is delicate and refined with light tones. From the scalloping of the sink back splash to the swooping faucet handles, the French country design is the most elegant. The countertops can be made of almost any material but should include subtle edge treatments and pastel colors.
Traditional:
This style tends to be more 'classic' in style and craftsmanship. With enduring lines and a traditional bath will never look dated or trendy.Usually neutral in color, you can use bold decorative pieces as accents. The preferred material for countertops is solid surfaces like granite or marble.Wood materials for the flooring and walls usually include paneling, tile or a wainscoted.
Victorian:
This style usually centers around a claw-foot bathtub and pedestal sink. Some accent colors may be strong in the small floor tiles to give some detail over the conservative wall and neutral(most likely white) floor colors. This style is the anything but modern.
Whether you are remodeling a small power room or a spacious master bath, the style and layout is the most important. When picking your layout, choose the one that is best for your functionality. There is no specific layout for choosing where your toilet and bathtub go.Wherever you feel you need your space is where it should go.Storage is usually the hardest to come by in a bathroom. When you start your bathroom remodeling, make sure you try and keep this in mind.Your storage areas should follow the style of bathroom you are going for.Large open cabinets or baskets will not follow the french country stile.
